EXECUTIVE CHEF
Mr Tony Zhao, the newly appointed Executive Chef of Stonelea Country Estate has been living in Australia for the past 5 years. Prior to joining Stonelea Tony held the position as Head Chef of the award winning restaurant, The Peppercorn Hotel in Yea Victoria.
Having completed his Diploma of Hospitality Management and Certificate 3 in hospitality commercial cookery at The Holmes Glen Institute in Australia and in addition his professional cookery certificate 6 at the Dublin Institute of Technology in Ireland from 2004-2007 Tony has been acclaimed for his excellent and innovative cooking skills and techniques and therefore is a very welcome new member of our kitchen brigade.
Prior to arriving in Australia Tony was employed by four of the top ten restaurants in Dublin including the Balzac Restaurant under the leadership of master chef Paul Flynn, The Town Bar and Grill and Peploe’s French Restaurant as Chef De Partie. Tony was honored to cook for Deng Xiaoping’s daughter Deng Rong and the delegation from the Shanghai government. In the same year Tony also had the privilege of cooking for Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryan and U2 and many other celebrities.
Tony has received formal training of French and Italian cuisines as well as western cooking styles. He also has an interest in Spanish, Moroccan Thai and Japanese cuisines. He is highly confident that Stonelea Country Estate will once again be awarded a ‘Hat” by the Age Good Food Guide.
Tony obtained Australian permanent residency in 2008 and holds Chinese nationality.
